EXPERIENCE: 1983 to Present: Served as Mathematics Department Chairman and Mathematics Instructor, Ashford University. Revised and upgraded the mathematics curriculum, developed and implemented campus-wide placement program for mathematics, ensured that quality instruction was utilized within all mathematics courses. Taught nearly all undergraduate mathematics courses offered at AU including upper and lower division courses. Added technology to the instruction of Calculus and Statistics through the use of calculators and statistical packages. Have used statistical packages such as Excel, Minitab, SPSS, and SYSTAT to process institutional data. Taught the Statistics course using a paperless approach on the University LAN with Minitab, augmented with Internet materials. Submitted proposals that resulted in the addition of Mathematics Endorsements for both Elementary and Secondary Education Majors, BS in Mathematics degree, and BS in Computer Science.

1982 to 1983: Taught college level developmental mathematics and college algebra at Columbus College, Columbus, Georgia and Chattahoochee Valley Community College, Phoenix City, Alabama as a part-time instructor.

1980 to 1982: Tutored students in mathematics from seventh grade level through college calculus at the Columbus College Learning Center. Assisted in the administrative functions and administered appropriate tests to students seeking tutorial assistance. Designed, produced and implemented lessons plans and materials to be used in tutoring students.

AWARDS: 1981 Mathematics Department Award, Scholastic Honors Award for Seniors, Phi Kappa Phi Senior Award, Phi Delta Kappa Outstanding Education Student and Certificate of Academic Honor in Secondary Education. Nominated to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and to International Youth in Achievement, Cambridge, England .

MILITARY: 1972 TO 1979: Served in the United States Army as Senior Personnel Specialist and Senior Data Analyst. Highest military awards include Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal and Bronze Star Medal.

MEMBER: Member of Golden Key International Honor Society, Pi Lambda Theta Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and charter member of Kappa Delta Pi honor society, Omicron Nu chapter. Initiated action for the establishment of a local chapter of Kappa Delta Pi at Columbus College and served two terms as chapter president.

COMMITTEES: Served on AU's Assessment Committee, Survey Committee, Curriculum Committee (twice as chairman), Cytotechnology Steering Committee, Search committees for Mathematics, Computer Information Systems and Business Instructors, University Grievance Committee, Software Assessment Committee, North Central Association Re-Accredidation Steering Committee, Academic Computing Committee and Honors Institute Committee. Served as new instructor mentor and technology resource person.

ACTIVITIES: Reviewed algebra and statistics texts for William C. Brown Publishing Company and Pre-Algebra text for West Publishing Company as well as partial reviews of other texts. Published numerous computer software programs for the 9900 series computers and have written the programs currently used by AU for mathematics placement and scholarship competitions. Have acted as representative for Ashford University at meetings of local educators and as a guest speaker at a local high school.

PERSONAL: In excellent health with interests that include jogging, bicycling, electronics, photography, and computer programming.
